          We received word that an uninvited intruder photobombed the monthly luncheon intended for classmates of the Del Valle High School Class of 1966 of Walnut Creek, California.  This month the luncheon was held at Red Robin Gourmet Burgers in Sun Valley Mall, Concord.  After several attempts to get the intruder to leave voluntarily, he finally had to be escorted out by Mall Security.  Later identified as a graduate of the Las Lomas High School Class of 1966 from Walnut Creek, he was charged with attempting to impersonate a Del Valle Trojan.

Now for the Real Story

          We just had to try our hand at Fake News.  For a number of years classmates from the Del Valle High School Class of 1966 have gotten together for a monthly luncheon at various locations throughout the Greater Bay Area.  The popular monthly luncheon is organized by Bryan Wade and is always well attended.  Since half the students who graduated from 8th Grade at Parkmead School in Walnut Creek went to Del Valle High School and half went to Las Lomas High School, there are many old friendships that bridge the two high schools.  This was evident at their combined 50th reunion last September.  The Del Valle grads welcome anyone to join them at their monthly luncheons and the date, time and location of these gatherings are announced on their Facebook Page.  The alleged intruder was actually John Rowe (Parkmead, Las Lomas) who was warmly welcomed and enjoyed getting together with old friends.

Our 50 year fabulous weekend reunion of Las Lomas High School Class of 1966 is just around the corner!  The committee would like to refresh the details with you. The list of who is attending some or all events is located in a side bar to the right.

Parking:  Embassy Suites will charge those coming to the reunion $14 for valet parking in secured parking.  Just mention you are here for the Las Lomas Reunion.  BART parking is available after 3 pm on Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday for FREE, however it is not secured parking.  BART is adjacent to the Embassy Suites.

Also being held that day is a Las Lomas car show, parking at the school may be limited.

          Members of the 50th Reunion Committee met at the home of Dawn Christopherson Buckingham on Wednesday, April 20.  Two members of the Del Valle High School Class of 1966, Bryan Wade and Richard Caris, were also in attendance.  Dawn reports that we already have 50 from Las Lomas confirmed to attend the reunion and Marsha Skinner reported that almost all the rooms reserved at the Embassy Suites, Walnut Creek have been filled.  Hurry…only two left.  Sandy Curtis Shields has been tracking down classmates and Joyce Marsh has been working on sending Reunion Information and Reservation Forms out to each classmate for whom we have an email, home or work address.  Alicia Steffen is working on decorations for the Saturday evening gala dinner at Back Forty and would welcome help from any of our classmates.  Be sure to send us your reservation form, check and biographical information with photos and also help us locate missing classmates.

          For the past eight years, classmates from the Del Valle High School Class of 1966 have met monthly for lunch.  Bryan Wade was instrumental in getting this well-attended event started as a way to keep his classmates connected.  He has also been working on plans for their 50th Reunion next year.  Bryan has suggested that we combine some of the reunion activities between Las Lomas and Del Valle, since so many of us know one another from Parkmead School.  I was honored to be asked to join the Del Valle group for their December 17 luncheon at Tahoe Joe's in Pleasant Hill.  It was great to see some of my classmates from Parkmead who I hadn't seen in more than 50 years, including Bryan Wade, Bob Lunardini, Bill Wiegand and Richard Caris.  Bryan plans to attend the next meeting of the Las Lomas 50th Reunion Committe in January 2016 so we can further discuss the possibility of combining some of our reunion events.
