HULMER, Freya – July 3, 1948 – June 2, 2008. Freya “Fryita”, age 59, passed away peacefully Monday, June 2, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Pittsburg, CA her family moved soon after to Walnut Creek, CA, where she had a happy childhood, graduating from Los Lomas High School. (Little did she know, she would later visit this area for great shopping). In 1967, Fryita married Jimmy Hulmer in San Francisco. After achieving her BA degree and teaching credential from Sonoma State, she taught elementary school for 28 years (majority of those in Kindergarten) in Rohnert Park (Monte Vista Elementary and Waldo Elementary). Her love and joy for teaching shone through as, she was a passionate, caring teacher of her “little munchkins” and a friend to her colleagues, touching countless lives. Fryita and Jimmy, partners in life and best friends, had 40 happy years together, the past 11 years in Napa, CA (previously in Santa Rosa and Sonoma). Frey is survived by her loving sweet husband, Jimmy; daughter and son-in-law, Drue Hulmer and Brian Vest; her granddaughter, Talia Hulmer-Vest (a sparkle of her life); her mother, Freya hill of Concord; father Arley Hill (pre-deceased 1966), sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Anthony Allioto of San Rafael, CA, their children Kimberly, Steven, Gina and Sheri(and her great nieces and nephews) in Marin and San Francisco areas; great aunt and great uncle, Herta and Lee Elisondo of Argentina; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carol and Bob Foster of Pebble Beach; niece and husband Denise and Rob McElhiney of Morgan Hill and children Robyn, Brianne and Aaron; nephew Jason Phillips; cousin and husband, Arleyn and Joe Glasser and children Heather and Heath; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marilyn and Bill Isetta of Sonoma, and children Linc, Dominic, Spencer, Mitchel and Cambria. A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Apollinaris Catholic Church, 3700 Lassen Street, Napa. The family thanks and appreciates the wonderful care given to Freya by the health care professionals and those who attended her at Queen of the Valley, UCSF and Hospice of Napa.
