After graduating from Las Lomas I attended UC Davis where I was on the Swimming & Water Polo Teams and graduated in 1970 with a BS in Civil Engineering.  My 40-year career included working for Caltrans, The California Air Resources Board and the Cities of San Pablo, Pleasanton & Vallejo.  I also worked for a private Engineering Consultant Firm for 5 years.  I retired in 2010 as the Director of Public Works for the City of Vallejo.

I married my sole-mate Robin in 1975. We have no children so we have focused our efforts on remodeling our homes over the last 40+ years using Robin’s talents as an Interior Designer and my questionable talents as a “Jack of all Trades”!   Our first remodel was a condo in Martinez where we lived for 4 years.  In 1982 we bought a 2000 sf house in Alamo and it only took us 22 years to complete that remodel. To be fair, it did included adding 1000 sf to the main house, a four car equivalent structure in the front (of which 50% was used as Robin’s office & workroom) plus another 800 sf structure in the back, which consisted of my workshop and a studio.

After “over building” our Alamo house we decided to downsize, so in 2004 we moved to our current home in Danville. We’re almost finished with this remodel … I must be getting faster???  Robin has more ideas than I have time to implement so my “weekend warrior” job during my engineering career has become my full time job during my retirement! But true to the old adage “no rest for the weary” in addition to finishing our primary residence in Danville, I am working on our other two homes in Tahoe City and Santa Cruz.

My fondest memory of high school was being on the swimming team and hearing my dad yell “KICK, KICK, KICK” whenever I was in a competitive race. For those who may be interested, my dad, affectionately known as “Well Fed Ed”, our beloved Principal (at least by me) passed away in 1998.  I look forward to seeing you all in September!!!!
