After Las Lomas, I received my degree and secondary teaching credential from San Francisco State College. While student teaching on the Peninsula I met the love of my life. He left for the Central Valley and I started my teaching career at San Mateo High. After a long distance relationship, surviving the gas rationing of odd and even # license plate days, we married and I joined him in the valley where we have lived for 42 years, raising a son and daughter, teaching, and a doing a little farming. After 28 years of teaching for me, and 34 in teaching, coaching, and administration for my husband, we retired.
Retirement is so much fun that we don’t have enough time to do everything we love doing. We attend Spring Training every March to see the Giants play and when home, we attend games in S.F. We love traveling. Cruising through the Panama Canal, and visiting our daughter in Ecuador, were our favorite trips. We often go “RVing” with our firth wheel, joining friends on the West Coast and in the mountainous regions.
I enjoy working with stained glass, creating and sewing quilts, gardening, crocheting, kayaking, and attending local events at our Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto.
My fondest memories of high school were some of the incredible teachers who inspired me to become an educator. Of course, driving my brother’s TR4 in my senior year while he was in the Navy, wasn’t too bad, either.
I am very sad to miss the reunion, but I just had shoulder surgery and am recovering. I hope to see everyone again sometime soon…
